Wholesale beauty and personal care: what resellers and small shops should buy by the case
Beauty and personal care is the second-largest wholesale search in the country, and it is where small resellers most often get burned: grey-market lots with no paperwork, expired inventory, and marketplace listings pulled for missing invoices. Buying it the boring way — by the case, from a wholesaler that invoices properly — is the whole strategy.
Name brands, by the case
Facial cleansers and moisturizers, acne care, sunscreen, body wash and bar soap, hair accessories, oral care and first aid all wholesale in cases of 6 to 36. Name brands hold their value because customers search for them by name; private-label and unknown imports do not.
Paperwork that protects the listing
Marketplaces ask beauty sellers for wholesale invoices from a supplier, itemized with product names, UPCs and quantities. Retail receipts and marketplace order confirmations do not count. Our invoices are itemized by UPC and case and travel with the packing list; whether a marketplace approves a category is their decision, but the paperwork is the part you control.
Shelf life and lot control
Sunscreen, acne products and anything with an active ingredient carry expiration dates; a wholesaler should be able to tell you the dating on the case before you buy. Rotate first-expiry-first on your own shelf and never mix lots in a marketplace shipment.
The small-store counter
For convenience stores, hotels and pharmacies the winners are travel sizes, pain relief, allergy, oral care and hand care — high urgency, low price sensitivity. Keep one facing each and reorder on a standing weekly crate rather than chasing stock.
